Dear Governor Gregoire:

I write to you on behalf of the State Rehabilitation Council for Department of Services for the Blind and the thousands of blind people in our state that we represent. As your appointed servants, we feel strongly that it’s imperative we meet with you or your representative to share important information about this small State Agency and to learn directly from you or your representative why you have made the decision to move DSB under the Department of Social and Health Services.

We are aware of the enormous job you have to balance our state’s budget, but also recognize the responsibility we have to you and to blind Washingtonians.  We take our role as a council seriously and would be negligent if we did not do what we could to open communication with you concerning your recent decision.

I can make myself available to meet with you at any time and would sincerely appreciate such an opportunity.

I can be reached via email at

Cindy.vw@msn.com

Or by phone at 360-689-0827.

Respectfully,

Cindy Van Winkle, Chair, State Rehabilitation Council, Dept. of Services for the Blind
